Suspended UNICAL Dean and Lawyer Granted Bail in Sexual Harassment Trial

A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to Prof. Cyril Ndifon, the suspended Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar, UNICAL. His lawyer, Sunny Anyanwu, was also granted bail by the court.

Ndifon was granted bail in the sum of N250 million with two sureties, while Anyanwu received bail set at N50 million with two sureties.

The professor and his lawyer are facing trial on amended charges of alleged sexual harassment and an attempt to pervert the course of justice.

Justice James Omotoso, the trial judge, ruled on the bail application, stating that the defendants must provide an undertaking not to interfere with the case, commit to attending trial, and refrain from causing any delays.

The case was adjourned until Monday, February 12, for the continuation of the hearing.
