Marianna Budanova, the wife of Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine’s military spy chief, has reportedly been poisoned with heavy metals, according to the Ukrainian government. She is currently undergoing treatment, and several other officials from the Ukrainian military intelligence agency (GUR) have exhibited mild poisoning symptoms. GUR spokesperson Andriy Yusov confirmed the incident, revealing that Kyrylo Budanov has survived numerous assassination attempts. While it remains unclear who is responsible for the poisoning, this development follows Russia’s accusations against Ukraine for alleged involvement in the killings of Russian figures. The situation adds to the ongoing tensions between the two nations since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
