Britney Spears Squashes Album Rumors, Firmly Declares Exit from Music Industry

Pop icon Britney Spears has definitively put an end to speculations about her return to the music industry, shutting down rumors of a potential 10th studio album. The singer took to Instagram to dismiss the reports, emphasizing that she will “never return to the music industry” while clarifying that most of the circulating news is “trash.”

Contrary to claims that she was enlisting songwriters like Julia Michaels and Charlie XCX for a new album, Spears asserted her preference for writing music for others and emphasized that she now enjoys working as a “ghostwriter.” She revealed that over the past two years, she has penned more than 20 songs for other artists.

Accompanying her announcement on Instagram was Guido Reni’s Renaissance painting titled Salome Bearing the Head of St John the Baptist.

This marks the first time Spears has unequivocally ruled out a return to the music industry, despite fans’ persistent hopes for her musical comeback. Her last musical release was the 2022 duet “Hold Me Closer” with Sir Elton John, breaking a six-year hiatus.

In her memoir, “The Woman in Me,” published last year, Spears reflected on her life under conservatorship, revealing personal details and experiences. She expressed that pushing forward in her music career was not her current focus, stating, “It’s time for me not to be someone who other people want; it’s time to actually find myself.”

While Spears has hinted at her reluctance to re-enter the music industry in the past, this latest statement makes it clear that her focus lies elsewhere, putting an end to any anticipation of new music from the pop sensation.
