Diego Chavez, a footballer for FC Juarez, tragically passed away at the age of 28 after being involved in a fatal car accident.
Reports indicate that Chavez lost control of his red Volkswagen Beetle and crashed into a pole, leaving him trapped inside the vehicle.
His club, FC Juarez, confirmed Chavez’s death and shared a heartfelt tribute to him on Wednesday. They described him as a player known for his joy, enthusiasm, simplicity, dedication, and love for the team.
FC Juarez expressed their deep sadness over Chavez’s passing, stating that they have lost not just a player but a valued member of their family.
Chavez had previously played for FC Juarez on loan in the 2016-17 season before returning for a second spell. He also had stints with clubs in Spain and Peru during his career.
His final appearance for FC Juarez was on January 29, and he was on the bench as a substitute during their match against Chivas on Sunday.
