Auburn Player, Johni Broome Apologizes to Morgan Freeman for Mistakenly Thinking Actor Was Trying to Distract Him as an Ole Miss Fan.

Auburn basketball star Johni Broome had an unexpected encounter during the game against Ole Miss when he mistakenly thought a fan was trying to grab him. Reacting quickly, Broome slapped the person’s hand away, only to realize it was none other than award-winning actor Morgan Freeman, a devoted Ole Miss fan.

After the game, Broome expressed his initial concern, saying, “I thought it was an Ole Miss fan grabbing my jersey, holding on to me.” Upon recognizing Freeman, Broome apologized, stating, “I’m a big fan. I’m sorry.” Freeman, being gracious about the incident, reassured Broome, saying, “Just keep playing.”

Freeman, 86, a Memphis native and long-time Rebels supporter, attended the game as Broome and the Tigers secured a 91-77 victory. Despite Ole Miss taking an early lead, Auburn rallied in the second half with an impressive performance. Jaylin Williams led the Tigers with 16 points, and Broome contributed 15 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.

Following the game, Broome sought out Freeman again to apologize, and the actor, displaying good sportsmanship, replied, “You all good. Just keep playing.” This unexpected encounter added a lighthearted moment to the game and showcased the mutual respect between the basketball star and the acclaimed actor.
