Tribunal Upholds Ododo as Kogi Governor, Dismisses Ajaka's Petition

The Kogi State Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal in Abuja has upheld the election of Usman Ododo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the Governor of Kogi State. The tribunal, led by Justice Ado Birnin-Kudu, dismissed the petition filed by Murtala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), ruling that Ajaka failed to provide sufficient evidence to support his claims of electoral irregularities.

The tribunal stated that Ajaka did not prove that the alleged irregularities were substantial enough to affect the overall outcome of the election. The election, held on November 11, 2023, saw Ododo secure 446,237 votes, defeating Ajaka, who received 259,052 votes, and Dino Melaye of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 46,362 votes. Ododo, previously the Auditor General of Kogi State, was sworn in as governor on January 27, 2024.
