President Bola Tinubu has made strategic appointments to boost the creative sector. Notably, Kannywood actor Ali Nuhu has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Film Corporation, as announced by Ajuri Ngelale, the presidential spokesman.

Ali Nuhu, a celebrated actor, businessman, and philanthropist with numerous national and international awards, is a well-known figure in the Nollywood mainstream. His diverse contributions to the film industry include blockbuster hits like Banana Island Ghost, Diamonds in the Sky, and Shanty Town, where he played the Chief’s Lawyer.

Having studied film production and cinematic arts at the University of California, Ali Nuhu’s expertise extends to international training programs at the Asian School of Media Studies in New Delhi. His journey also includes participation in renowned film festivals like the Zuma Film Festival and the Pyongyang International Film Festival.

In Kannywood, Ali Nuhu’s success is highlighted by his roles in big-budget films such as Wasila, Mujadala, and Sangaja, establishing him as a veteran in the industry. His remarkable achievements have earned him the title of the most advertised actor in Kannywood, representing brands like Globacom Nigeria, Royco, Pepsi, and more.

Born on March 15, 1974, in Kano, Ali Nuhu obtained a bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Jos in 1997. His foray into acting began during his undergraduate years, marked by his first film audition and full-fledged participation in the Hausa movie industry, commonly known as Kannywood.

President Tinubu has also approved appointments for other key roles in agencies under the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy. Notable figures include Tony Akerele, Dr. Shaibu Husseini, Obi Asika, Aisha Adamu Augie, Ekpolador-Ebi Koinyan, Ahmed Sodangi, Chaliya Shagaya, Hajiya Khaltume Bulama Gana, Otunba Biodun Ajiboye, and Ramatu Abonbo Mohammed. These appointees are tasked with contributing to the vibrancy and robustness of the creative sector, following the highest standards of professionalism, diligence, and patriotism.
