The Senate, led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, has introduced a 45-member committee to review the 1999 constitution. Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin will chair the committee, which includes six members from each geopolitical zone and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
The committee’s tasks will include reviewing laws related to artificial intelligence, state police, and other areas. The inauguration of the committee is scheduled for next Tuesday.
Additionally, the Senate President has instructed that all speakers of the State House of Assemblies be invited to the National Assembly to participate in discussions as part of the constitution amendment process.
