Court Upholds Governor Fubara's Loyalist as Speaker of Rivers House of Assembly

The political turmoil in Rivers State has entered a new phase, with the High Court in Port Harcourt confirming Edison Ehie as the legitimate Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Edison Ehie belongs to the faction supporting Governor Siminalayi Fubara, consisting of four lawmakers. Earlier, in the October crisis at the House of Assembly, he faced suspension and removal as the house leader by his colleagues.

The court in its ruling restrained Martins Amaewhule and Dumle Maol from parading themselves as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

The court also warned against the use of Thugs and Police officers to forcefully gain access into the Assembly Complex.
