Wike Begins Road Repair in Maitama, Garki, and Utako Districts

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has launched the resurfacing of 182 roads and repair of bridges in Maitama, Garki, and Utako Districts of Abuja.

Wike conducted the flag-off ceremony on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, in Maitama District, Abuja. He urged the contractor to complete the project by May 2024.

He emphasized the importance of timely completion and warned that contracts would be revoked if not fulfilled. Wike stressed the need for contractors to demonstrate the capacity to execute projects effectively.

He emphasized that the development of Abuja transcends political affiliations and expressed commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the FCT.

Wike thanked the National Assembly for their support and assured continued collaboration for the capital’s development.

He attributed the progress in Abuja to the President’s support and reiterated the Administration’s obligation to deliver.

Wike acknowledged the inconvenience caused by road rehabilitation and called for residents’ understanding, emphasizing the importance of sacrifices for development.

Regarding national reforms, Wike urged Nigerians to be patient and supportive, assuring them of positive changes. He urged residents to pay taxes to facilitate more development.

Wike assured that security agencies in Abuja have the necessary resources to address security challenges and urged residents to provide relevant information.

Chairman of Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, commended Wike’s commitment to infrastructure development.

Sen. Ibrahim Bomai and Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, Chairmen of Senate and House of Representatives Committees on FCT, pledged the National Assembly’s support for FCT’s developmental activities.

Both lawmakers expressed readiness to contribute to Abuja’s transformation.
