The Niger State Police Command has confirmed a tragic incident where a man named Idris Ahmadu from Nasarawa village, Lapai Local Government, was fatally stabbed by his newlywed wife, Aisha Aliyu.

According to DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the Police Public Relations Officer, the incident occurred early on Monday. Aisha Aliyu allegedly stabbed her husband to death and fled the scene before the police arrived.

Abiodun stated, “Today 12/02/2024 (Monday), at about 1200hrs, information was received that in the early hours, one Idris Ahmadu of Nasarawa village, via Lapai was stabbed to death by his wife, Aisha Aliyu, 19/20yrs of the same address.

“Before the arrival of the police at the scene, the suspect had fled to an unknown destination; effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspect.”

A source from the area revealed that the couple had a minor argument on Sunday evening, which was resolved before they went to bed. However, in the middle of the night, screams were heard, prompting the deceased’s mother and other residents to rush to the scene, only to find Idris lying in a pool of blood while his wife was missing.

The couple had tied the knot on December 31, 2023, after being in a relationship for some time. Allegedly, Aisha had reservations about marrying Idris but was convinced by family members to go ahead with the marriage, albeit reluctantly.
