In an update, the Ondo State Government has provided details regarding the passing of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. Contrary to earlier reports, the government clarified that the governor did not pass away in Lagos.
Governor Akeredolu, aged 67, departed on Wednesday, December 27, 2023. Previous reports had suggested that he died in a Lagos hospital after a prolonged battle with blood cancer and leukemia. The government’s statement aims to set the record straight on the circumstances surrounding his passing.
However, Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, in a statement issued on Wednesday, explained how the governor died.
He said; “Akeredolu answered the eternal call while receiving medical treatment in Germany. He succumbed to complications arising from protracted prostate cancer.
“The family and the state government will release further details regarding his funeral arrangements.”
