NEMA Denies Warehouse Looting in Abuja Amidst Reported Unrest

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has refuted claims of its warehouse being looted in Abuja, clarifying that the facility in question is not owned by the agency. In a statement released by the NEMA Press Unit, it was emphasized that the looted warehouse does not belong to NEMA, although the agency expressed sympathy towards the affected owners.

In a separate incident, the Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration confirmed the looting of its warehouse in Dei-Dei by residents, citing economic hardship as a motivating factor. While the FCT Agric secretariat’s spokesperson confirmed the looting, no further details were provided regarding the incident.

NEMA spokesperson, Manzo Ezekiel, reiterated the agency’s commitment to safeguarding its facilities nationwide, directing Zonal Directors and Heads of Operations to reinforce security measures in and around NEMA’s offices and warehouses. The agency aims to prevent any potential security breaches amidst the reported unrest.
