Muslims Celebrate Eid-el-Kabir Across Nigeria

Nigerian Muslims joined their counterparts worldwide to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, the festival of sacrifice, commemorating Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to God. The period is marked by prayers, charity, social gatherings, and festive meals.

President Bola Tinubu urged Nigerians to reflect on the essence of Eid-el-Kabir, emphasizing the importance of sacrifice and duty in nation-building. He called for prayers for the nation’s peace and stability and assured citizens that his administration prioritizes their physical, social, and economic security.

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu urged Nigerians to learn from Prophet Ibrahim’s example and work towards unity and progress. He highlighted the significance of faith and patience during challenging times. Ogun Governor Dapo Abiodun emphasized selflessness and compassion, urging Muslims to prioritize spiritual well-being and reflect on the teachings of Prophet Ibrahim.

Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde called for rededication to serving Allah and humanity, stressing the need for more prayers, sacrifice, and patriotism for the state’s and country’s betterment. Ondo Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa prayed for blessings, peace, and prosperity for all Muslim faithful and assured them of inclusive governance. Ebonyi Governor Francis Nwifuru encouraged Muslims to pray for Nigeria’s peace and development and assured them of a secure Sallah celebration.

Kaduna Governor Uba Sani highlighted the values of devotion, patience, and perseverance, urging Muslims to show love and care and pray for the state and country. Adamawa Governor Ahmadu Fintiri acknowledged the economic challenges and encouraged Nigerians to draw strength from their diversity and work together for a brighter future.

Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in Nigeria were marked by messages of unity, sacrifice, and hope from President Tinubu and various state governors, emphasizing the importance of collective effort and faith in overcoming challenges and achieving national progress.
