KFC Nigeria Apologizes for Discriminating Against Wheelchair User Adebola Daniel

Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) Nigeria issued an apology to Adebola Daniel, son of former Ogun state governor Gbenga Daniel, after he was refused service at their Lagos airport outlet due to his wheelchair.

Daniel’s post about the incident on social media prompted widespread outrage and an investigation by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), leading to the closure of the KFC outlet.

In response to the incident, KFC Nigeria expressed deep regret for the distress caused to Daniel and pledged swift action to address the issue, including implementing inclusion training for all employees and ensuring empathetic customer service.

The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) also condemned the discrimination, emphasizing the obligation to eliminate practices detrimental to consumer welfare.

KFC Nigeria’s apology followed FAAN’s order for the fast-food chain to apologize to Daniel and display a non-discrimination policy at the restaurant before reopening.
