Gunmen Abduct 10 Residents in Abuja Estate

In a distressing incident, gunmen, resembling herdsmen, forcefully entered Sagwari Layout Estate in the Dutse axis of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and abducted ten residents on Sunday, January 7, 2024.

Eyewitnesses reported that the invasion occurred around 7 p.m., causing panic and fear among the estate’s residents. One victim, who initially raised an alarm about the danger his family faced, suddenly ceased communication after the distress message was sent to the estate’s WhatsApp group.

The kidnappers targeted two hotel staff members and eight residents, making a total of ten individuals abducted during the brazen attack. A security guard on duty was overpowered, beaten, but later successfully rescued.

Prompt action has been taken by the residents, who have joined forces with security operatives and the estate’s security guards to conduct a thorough search in the hills surrounding the estate. The collaborative efforts aim to locate and secure the release of the kidnapped individuals, ensuring the safety and well-being of the entire community.

This alarming incident highlights the pressing need for enhanced security measures and vigilance within residential areas to curb such criminal activities. Authorities are urged to address the situation promptly and ensure the safety of the affected residents.
