While this will be Ashanti’s first child, Nelly, 49, is already a father of two. In an interesting twist, Nelly became a grandfather at the age of 49 when his daughter Chanelle, 29, welcomed a baby of her own. The couple’s reconciliation became the subject of rumors in April when they were spotted holding hands at a boxing match in Las Vegas.
Speculations about Ashanti’s pregnancy arose over the weekend when the music stars attended an event in St. Louis, Nelly’s hometown. A TMZ video captured a touching moment where the couple affectionately interacted with Ashanti’s stomach. Although representatives for Nelly and Ashanti declined to comment on the pregnancy reports, if confirmed, Ashanti would be expecting her first child, while Nelly would be welcoming his third.
