The Lagos State Police Command has officially acknowledged receiving a petition from Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage, detailing allegations of bullying and threats to her life by fellow artist David Adeleke, widely known as Davido.
The ‘Emido’ singer’s petition, which gained traction online, accuses Davido of using disrespectful language in response to a post that featured Tiwa Savage and the singer’s baby mama, Sophia Momodu.
In the petition, Tiwa Savage expressed her disappointment at Davido’s threats and reminded him of the support she provided to his family, especially during the difficult time of losing his son, Ifeanyi.
According to the singer, she received calls from mutual connections inquiring about what she might have done to upset Davido and questioning her relationship with Sophia. The police have now initiated an investigation into the matter.
The Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, while responding to an inquiry by PUNCH on Tuesday, said investigation had begun into the allegations.
He said, “I can confirm to you that we have received the petition, and investigation has commenced.”
