Nigerians slam Toke Makinwa’s presence at COP28 in Dubai

Critics on social media have rebuked the presence of On-Air Personality Toke Makinwa at the ongoing COP28 Climate Summit in Dubai. Makinwa expressed her excitement about attending the event and emphasized the importance of global leaders, royalty, climate change advocates, and industry leaders discussing ways to save the planet.

Some social media users questioned her role at the summit, with one user criticizing her attendance, saying, “Toke Makinwa is attending a Climate Change event. Can Toke give us data on how her business employs sustainability practices? How is a climate change event a high-level party?”

Despite the backlash, another user praised Makinwa, saying, “Tokstarr Makinwa, I’m super proud of you. Congratulations on your trip to the climate change advocate. Some people are actually wishing to be in your position, so let them cry blood.”

The 28th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28) is hosted by the Government of the United Arab Emirates and is scheduled to run from November 30 to December 12.
