US Airman Aaron Bushnell Dies After Setting Himself on Fire Outside Israeli Embassy in Washington

In a tragic incident outside the Israeli embassy in Washington DC, a 25-year-old US airman, Aaron Bushnell of San Antonio, Texas, died after setting himself on fire. The act, captured in a livestream on Twitch, was a poignant protest against Israel’s actions in Gaza.

Before igniting himself, Bushnell, dressed in military fatigues, declared his refusal to be complicit in what he described as “genocide,” shouting “Free Palestine!” The Pentagon confirmed his death, indicating that he succumbed to his injuries.

This event mirrors a similar occurrence in December, where a protester self-immolated outside the Israeli consulate in Atlanta, leaving behind a Palestinian flag.

The incident underscores the ongoing unrest and protests against Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, which has led to significant casualties and displacement, with over 29,000 reported deaths and widespread destruction in the region.
