Trump Supporter, Vem Miller Arrested Near Rally with Firearms, Denies Assassination Plot; Calls It a Setup

A man arrested near a Trump rally in Coachella, California, has denied allegations of a potential assassination attempt, claiming he is a staunch supporter of the former president and the arrest was a misunderstanding. Vem Miller, 49, was detained on Saturday after authorities found firearms, fake IDs, and false license plates in his vehicle at a checkpoint near the rally site.

Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco described Miller’s arrest as a thwarted assassination attempt, stating that Miller’s possession of a shotgun, loaded handgun, high-capacity magazine, and counterfeit documents raised serious concerns. “We may have prevented the third attempt on Trump’s life,” Bianco said, referencing two previous incidents involving the former president.

Miller, however, disputes these claims, insisting he had no harmful intentions. In an interview with Fox News Digital, Miller said he notified police about the firearms in his trunk voluntarily when he arrived at the security checkpoint. He said the weapons were for self-defense, as he has been receiving death threats due to his work with his media network, America Happens.

“I’ve never fired a gun in my life. I’m not a danger to anyone,” Miller said. “I’m 100% a Trump supporter and have been for years. The idea that I would try to harm him is ridiculous.”

Miller also denied accusations that he is associated with any anti-government or extremist groups. He explained that the multiple IDs found in his possession are related to his Armenian heritage, as using his full name could put him in danger in certain regions.

Miller’s partner, Mindy Robinson, posted on social media, calling the arrest a “set-up” in retaliation for their recent investigative work exposing alleged government corruption. She argued that Miller was being targeted for his outspoken views against the mainstream media and government overreach.

Miller was released on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on January 2, 2025. No federal charges have been filed, but the FBI and Secret Service are continuing their investigation.

The Trump campaign thanked law enforcement for their work in securing the event but has not commented on the specifics of the arrest. Authorities say the incident did not impact the safety of former President Trump or rally attendees.
