Spain secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Denmark in the UEFA Nations League, thanks to a late goal from Martín Zubimendi, pushing them to the top of Group A4. Despite missing several key players, Spain dominated possession but had to wait until the 79th minute to find the breakthrough.
Spain created several chances throughout the game, with Lamine Yamal missing a clear opportunity in the first half after being set up by Pedro Porro. Alvaro Morata also came close in the second half, forcing Denmark’s goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel into a fine save. Denmark, however, threatened on the counter, with David Raya making key stops to deny Kasper Dolberg.
The decisive moment came when Zubimendi fired a low shot from the edge of the box that took a deflection and slipped past Schmeichel, who misjudged the ball’s trajectory. It was Zubimendi’s first goal for Spain, earning them a hard-fought win.
This result keeps Spain unbeaten in 18 competitive matches and extends their impressive run under coach Luis de la Fuente. Denmark, who sit just a point behind Spain, had solid chances but couldn’t break through a resilient Spanish defense.
With this victory, Spain strengthens their grip at the top of the group, positioning themselves as strong contenders to advance in the Nations League.
