Brazilian footballer Vinicius Tobias, currently playing for Shakhtar Donetsk, has suffered emotional turmoil after discovering through a DNA test that he is not the biological father of his newborn daughter, Maite. Tobias, 20, had celebrated her birth on October 8 by getting a tattoo on his arm that read, “Maite, I love you.”
The right-back and his ex-wife, influencer Ingrid Lima, had a complicated relationship leading up to Maite’s conception. In a public statement, Ingrid explained that the two had moved on with other partners during a break in their relationship.
“Vinicius and I haven’t been together for a while. During that time, I was in a relationship with someone, and so was he. We both moved on with our lives. Maite came along in the process. We decided to do a DNA test, and it confirmed Maite is not Vinicius’ daughter,” she wrote.
Tobias has not yet publicly addressed the news, leaving fans to speculate about how he is coping with the unexpected revelation. The Sao Paulo-born defender, who spent time with Real Madrid Castilla from 2022 to 2024, was recently preparing for Shakhtar Donetsk’s upcoming Champions League match against Arsenal at the Emirates.
As of now, the identity of Maite’s biological father has not been disclosed. Tobias’ supporters have expressed sympathy for the young athlete, praising his display of love despite the difficult situation.
