Ruud van Nistelrooy made a sensational start as Manchester United’s interim manager, overseeing a commanding 5-2 victory over Leicester City in the Carabao Cup and securing a place in the quarterfinals. Just days after taking charge, Van Nistelrooy’s emphasis on high-energy, attacking play was evident as United stormed to an early lead, thrilling a packed Old Trafford crowd.

Casemiro set the tone with a brilliant strike from nearly 30 yards out, followed quickly by Alejandro Garnacho, who tapped in a pass from Diogo Dalot to make it 2-0. Leicester pulled one back through Bilal El Khannouss, but Casemiro responded, heading in his second goal after his initial effort rebounded off both posts.

United’s Bruno Fernandes struck next, his free-kick deflecting off Leicester’s defense for United’s fourth goal. Although Leicester managed another goal just before halftime from Conor Coady, United’s lead remained firm. In the second half, Fernandes added a fifth, taking advantage of a defensive miscue to score.

With the victory, Manchester United advances to the quarterfinals, where they will face Tottenham. Van Nistelrooy’s first match in charge delivered a dynamic performance, and the team’s attacking style signaled a new beginning for United under his leadership.
