Tottenham Hotspur has strengthened their attacking lineup with the acquisition of striker Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth in a deal that could reach £65 million. The 26-year-old forward, who netted 19 Premier League goals last season, has committed to a six-year contract with Spurs, extending until 2030.
The transfer involves an initial payment of £55 million, with an additional £10 million in performance-related bonuses. Solanke, a former Chelsea and Liverpool player, joined Bournemouth in 2019 and has since developed into a key player, culminating in his standout performance during the 2023/24 season.
Solanke’s transfer to Tottenham sets a new record for Bournemouth, surpassing the £40 million received for Nathan Ake’s move to Manchester City in 2020. The deal also triggers a sell-on clause, ensuring Liverpool benefits from a portion of the transfer fee.
Bournemouth’s chief executive, Neill Blake, acknowledged Solanke’s contribution to the club, highlighting his work ethic and professionalism. He emphasized that the move reflects both Solanke’s growth and the platform Bournemouth provides for young talent.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou expressed enthusiasm about the signing, describing Solanke as a perfect fit for the team’s attacking strategy. With Spurs aiming for a return to the Champions League after a fifth-place finish last season, Solanke is expected to play a crucial role.
The striker will make his first appearance for Tottenham in their pre-season friendly against Bayern Munich, signaling the beginning of a new chapter in his career as he looks to make a significant impact at one of the Premier League’s top clubs.
