Nigerian-born defender Tosin Adarabioyo, formerly with Fulham, has passed his medical examination at Chelsea in preparation for a move to Stamford Bridge on a free transfer.
The 26-year-old’s contract with Fulham is set to end this summer, opening the door for him to join forces once again with Enzo Maresca, Chelsea’s new manager, whom he previously collaborated with at Manchester City.
Chelsea has proposed a long-term contract to Adarabioyo, valuing his experience in the Premier League, consistent availability, and track record of avoiding injuries.
While Newcastle had shown interest in signing the Englishman, Adarabioyo opted to join Chelsea, expressing enthusiasm for the opportunity to move to Stamford Bridge.
Once the paperwork is finalized, Adarabioyo will become the first acquisition of the Maresca era, following his agreement to join Chelsea over the past weekend.
Adarabioyo has worked with Chelsea’s new boss Maresca before from their time together at Manchester City.
The 6ft 5in centre-half will compete alongside several quality defenders in the Chelsea squad, but he stands a strong chance of securing playing time because he is quick, strong, and comfortable on the ball
