Team USA Surges Past Serbia After 17-Point Deficit, Advances to Olympic Final

In a dramatic showdown at the Paris 2024 Olympics, Team USA rallied from a 17-point deficit to defeat Serbia 95-91, earning a spot in the gold medal game. Stephen Curry led the charge with a stellar performance, scoring an Olympic career-high 36 points, including nine three-pointers, the most by any player in a single game this Olympics.

Serbia dominated early, fueled by Aleksa Avramovic’s 15 first-half points and a defense that stifled the American offense. By halftime, Serbia had built an 11-point lead, which they extended to 17 points in the third quarter. Despite a strong start from Curry, who scored 20 points in the first half, Team USA struggled to close the gap.

However, the Americans found their rhythm in the second half. Joel Embiid sparked a crucial run, and LeBron James tied the game with a driving layup in the fourth quarter. Curry then sank his ninth three-pointer of the night to give Team USA its first lead since the opening quarter. Key plays from Kevin Durant and James in the final minutes sealed the victory.

LeBron James recorded a triple-double with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Embiid added 19 points. Bogdan Bogdanovic led Serbia with 20 points, and Nikola Jokic contributed 17 points and 11 rebounds.

With the win, Team USA advances to the gold medal game, where they will face France, seeking their fifth consecutive Olympic title. Serbia will compete against Germany for the bronze.
