Bijili Ramesh, a popular Tamil actor and YouTube star, passed away on August 26 in Chennai at the age of 46 after battling a long-term illness. Known for his comedic roles and his viral internet presence, Ramesh’s death has left fans and colleagues in shock.
Ramesh first gained widespread attention through a viral prank video featuring YouTubers VJ Siddhu and Ram Nishanth. His impressive imitation of Superstar Rajinikanth and his memorable line, “Idhu Dhan Thavaraana Vishayam,” resonated with audiences, making him an overnight sensation on social media.
Building on his online fame, Ramesh transitioned to the silver screen, appearing in notable Tamil films like Natpe Thunai, Comali, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, Aadai, and Ponmagal Vandhal. Despite his success, Ramesh’s roles were often brief, leaving him striving for larger opportunities in the industry.
Earlier this year, Ramesh revealed in a YouTube interview that he was suffering from severe liver damage due to excessive alcohol consumption. In the interview, he made a heartfelt plea to the film industry for support, expressing his deep desire to work again, particularly with his idol, Rajinikanth. Though some colleagues offered financial aid, Ramesh’s health continued to decline.
He was admitted to a government hospital in Chennai, where his condition worsened in recent weeks. Ramesh passed away on the night of August 26, surrounded by his loved ones.
The news of his death has sent waves of grief across the Tamil entertainment community. Ramesh is survived by his wife and son. His final rites will be conducted today, August 27, at his residence in MGR Nagar, Chennai.
Ramesh’s untimely death serves as a somber reminder of the dangers of alcohol addiction, with many fans and fellow actors using this moment to spread awareness and encourage healthier lifestyles.
