Chelsea secured their first Premier League victory of the season in a commanding 6-2 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux, driven by a stunning second-half hat-trick from Noni Madueke. The victory also marked the first league win for new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
The match started with Chelsea taking an early lead through Nicolas Jackson, only for Wolves to equalize with a well-taken goal by Matheus Cunha. Chelsea regained the lead just before halftime with a brilliant lob from Cole Palmer, but Wolves responded again, leveling the score through Jorgen Strand Larsen.
The second half, however, belonged entirely to Chelsea and Madueke. The winger, who had faced boos from the home crowd due to a controversial social media post, responded emphatically with three goals in just 15 minutes, all assisted by the impressive Palmer. João Félix added a sixth goal late on, capping a comprehensive win for the Blues.
Madueke apologized for his social media mishap after the match, saying, “I just want to apologize to anyone I might have offended. It was a human mistake, and I’m sorry.” He also praised his growing on-field connection with Palmer, saying, “He is cold, and I am fire, so it mixes well.”
The result gives Chelsea momentum as they head into their upcoming UEFA Europa Conference League qualifier against Servette, followed by a league clash with Crystal Palace before the international break.
