Newcastle United stormed back in the second half to beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at the City Ground, ending Forest’s three-match winning streak and securing a third consecutive victory for Eddie Howe’s side.

Forest struck first when Murillo headed home in the first half from Anthony Elanga’s free-kick delivery, putting the hosts ahead against a resilient Newcastle side. However, the visitors equalized nine minutes into the second half as Alexander Isak found himself perfectly positioned to finish a loose ball following an aerial duel between Chris Wood and Sean Longstaff. The goal marked Isak’s fourth consecutive game with a goal.

Newcastle’s pressure continued, and in the 72nd minute, Joelinton curled a left-footed shot from the edge of the box into the bottom corner, giving Newcastle the lead. Substitute Harvey Barnes then sealed the victory in the 83rd minute, slotting a shot past Matz Sels after a swift counter-attack, just minutes after coming on.

The result elevates Newcastle to eighth place, joining five other teams on 18 points, while Forest retains third place in the Premier League table.
