Boxing legend Mike Tyson experienced a medical emergency on a Sunday flight from Miami to Los Angeles.
Tyson’s representatives reported that he became nauseous and dizzy due to an ulcer flare-up about 30 minutes before landing. They assured the public that “Mr. Tyson is doing great” and thanked the medical staff who assisted him.
In Touch Weekly they initially reported the incident, stating that paramedics boarded the plane upon arrival. A source mentioned that an announcement was made during the flight, requesting a doctor.
The flight, which Tyson, 57, was on, was delayed for two hours in Miami due to an air conditioning issue, unrelated to Tyson’s condition. About 20 minutes before landing in Los Angeles, an announcement was made asking for medical professionals.
The medical situation caused a delay of about 25 minutes for passengers disembarking the plane.
“He was in first class, but we were in an exit row and the stewardess was very chatty. They asked us to stay on the plane and landed so paramedics could enter,” a source told In Touch Weekly.
“She said something like, ‘He’s a really important passenger so we wanna make sure he’s OK.’ I knew it was him, but I just mouthed the words ‘Mike Tyson’ and she nodded her head yes.”
Tyson, who turns 58 next month, is scheduled to fight Jake Paul on July 20 in Dallas in his return to the ring.
The former heavyweight champion last fought a sanctioned fight in June 2005.
