Michael Olise has completed his transfer from Crystal Palace to Bayern Munich, signing a five-year deal until 2029. The 22-year-old French right winger, who was highly sought after during the summer transfer window, chose Bayern over interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle United.
Bayern Munich, now managed by Vincent Kompany, secured Olise for a fee of £50.8 million (€60 million) including add-ons. Olise expressed his excitement about the move, stating, “The talks with FC Bayern were very positive, and I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club. It’s a great challenge, and that’s exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.”
Max Eberl, Bayern’s board member for sport, praised Olise’s impact and potential, saying, “Michael Olise is a player who can make the difference and attracted great interest with his style of play. We want new impetus in our team, new energy, new ideas – that’s what players like Michael Olise stand for. During the talks, he quickly signaled that he really wanted to join FC Bayern. We’re very much looking forward to him. He will enrich our game.”
Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, added, “Michael is quick, tricky, a goal threat, and very versatile in attack. His goals and assists stats are already outstanding. At the age of 22, Michael is already very advanced, but is also hungry and still has a lot of potential. Fans come to the stadium to see players like Michael Olise.”
Olise joined Crystal Palace from Reading in 2021 and was one of the standout performers last season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 19 appearances despite injuries. He has also been named in Thierry Henry’s France squad for the Olympic Games in Paris.
With his move to Bayern Munich, Olise aims to make a significant impact in the Bundesliga and help the team achieve success in the coming years.
