Napoli continued their impressive Serie A run with a 3-1 victory over Como on Friday, extending their lead at the top of the table. Scott McTominay opened the scoring just 25 seconds into the match, setting the tone for the hosts’ dominant performance at home.
McTominay capitalized on a well-placed pass from Romelu Lukaku, firing the ball off the post and into the net. Despite Napoli’s early control, Como responded with several dangerous chances, including a powerful long-range shot from Nico Paz that rattled the post. They equalized just before halftime with Gabriel Strefezza’s low shot through a crowded penalty area.
Napoli regained the lead in the second half when Lukaku converted a penalty after Sergi Roberto’s foul on Mathías Olivera. Lukaku, in top form, was instrumental throughout the match, contributing not only a goal but also an assist for David Neres, who sealed the win with an 86th-minute strike after breaking through Como’s defense.
Lukaku’s performance, marked by his third goal and fourth assist of the season, drew praise from his teammates. “I’m fully integrated into the squad now, thanks to everyone. We keep winning, and that’s what matters,” said Lukaku, who has been pivotal to Napoli’s early-season success.
Napoli now sits four points ahead of Juventus in the standings, with 16 points from seven matches. They’ll be looking to maintain their momentum as the season progresses.
