Manchester City took an early lead in the 19th minute when Erling Haaland finished off an Oscar Bobb cutback with a low shot past Milan’s goalkeeper. However, Milan quickly responded as Lorenzo Colombo netted two goals within four minutes, both from Samuel Chukwueze crosses, turning the game around by the 30th minute.
City equalized in the 55th minute through young midfielder James McAtee, who headed in a cross from substitute Micah Hamilton. With the game poised for a penalty shootout, Milan’s Marco Nasti secured the win in the 78th minute by converting a centering pass from Alexis Saelemaekers.
The match saw Manchester City missing key players, including Kevin De Bruyne, John Stones, and Kyle Walker, who were rested following Euro 2024, and Julián Álvarez, who is currently with Argentina at the Olympics. Despite these absences, City showcased their depth and talent but ultimately fell short.
