Mamelodi Sundowns have appointed Steve Komphela as their senior coach, working alongside Manqoba Mngqithi and the technical team. This announcement follows the recent departure of Rulani Mokwena as head coach.
Komphela, who previously worked with Sundowns two years ago, expressed his excitement about returning to the club. “I am very excited to be back at Mamelodi Sundowns where I was always inspired and treated with respect and love. I am committed to contributing to the club achieving its goals in South Africa and on the African continent,” he said.
Despite a successful season with two trophies, Sundowns made headlines by letting go of Mokwena. Mokwena revealed that he did not want to leave but felt his “hand was forced” due to undisclosed reasons.
Sundowns are currently training in South Africa and will soon head to Austria for their preseason preparations.
