Bayer Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface was involved in a car accident on Sunday, just hours after scoring the winning goal in his team’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt. Boniface, 23, suffered minor injuries to his hand and was briefly hospitalized but is reported to be in good condition.
The incident occurred as Boniface was traveling to Frankfurt airport. According to Hessen state police, the vehicle’s driver lost control due to fatigue and collided with a truck on the highway. Boniface, a passenger in the car, shared images of the wrecked vehicle and his bloodied hand on Instagram, though he later deleted the posts. He reassured fans with a brief message on social media, saying, “God is the greatest.”
Boniface has been in exceptional form this season, scoring seven goals in 10 appearances for Leverkusen. Despite the accident, the club has not yet indicated whether the striker will miss any matches, but they are likely to take a cautious approach ahead of their upcoming Champions League clash against Brest on Wednesday.
Leverkusen currently sit fourth in the Bundesliga with 14 points from seven games, and Boniface’s presence has been a key factor in their strong start to the season. The club has yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
