Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has reportedly agreed personal terms with Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad, signaling a potential surprise departure from the Premier League champions.
The Belgian midfielder’s current contract with Manchester City is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 season. According to journalist Rudy Galetti, Al-Ittihad has reached an agreement with De Bruyne on personal terms, bringing the 33-year-old closer to a move to Saudi Arabia.
Negotiations between Al-Ittihad and Manchester City are ongoing regarding a transfer fee for De Bruyne, who joined City from Wolfsburg for £55 million in 2015.
When previously asked about a potential move to Saudi Arabia, De Bruyne told Belgian publication HLN, “At my age, you have to be open to everything. You’re talking about incredible amounts of money in what may be the end of my career. Sometimes you have to think about that. If I play there for two years, I will be able to earn an incredible amount of money. Before that, I had to play football for 15 years. I may not even reach that amount yet.”
This potential transfer marks a significant development in De Bruyne’s illustrious career and reflects the growing influence of the Saudi Pro League in attracting top talent from European football.
In his 382 appearances for City, the Belgian has scored 102 goals and added 170 assists, while he has won 15 trophies at the club.
