Jim Schlossnagle, a renowned baseball coach known for his success at Texas A&M and TCU, has been appointed as the new head coach for the University of Texas baseball team. Schlossnagle, who brings 23 years of coaching experience, including multiple College World Series appearances, joins Texas after a notable tenure at Texas A&M, where he led the Aggies to their first-ever College World Series championship series in 2024. His coaching career includes building programs from the ground up, notably transforming TCU into a powerhouse with five CWS appearances.
Schlossnagle’s move to Texas comes shortly after his successful stint at Texas A&M, where he amassed a 135-62 record over three seasons, highlighted by two CWS berths. His decision to leave Texas A&M for Texas marks a significant shift in college baseball dynamics, especially as both teams prepare to compete in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) starting this year.
At Texas, Schlossnagle reunites with Chris Del Conte, the athletic director with whom he previously worked at TCU. Del Conte praised Schlossnagle’s leadership and track record in building winning programs, highlighting his deep understanding of Texas baseball’s rich history and commitment to holistic student-athlete development.
Schlossnagle’s appointment underscores Texas’s commitment to maintaining its status as a premier baseball program, known for six national championships and 38 College World Series appearances. His arrival is anticipated to usher in a new era of competitiveness and excellence at UFCU Disch-Falk Field, as Texas looks ahead to future successes under his guidance.
