Arsenal secured their first Champions League win of the season with a 2-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain at the Emirates Stadium. Kai Havertz opened the scoring in the 20th minute, heading in Leandro Trossard’s cross for his fifth goal of the season. Bukayo Saka doubled the lead 15 minutes later when his free-kick from the right sneaked into the PSG net, outwitting goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The win comes after Arsenal’s goalless draw against Atalanta in their opening match, placing them among the top eight teams in the group stage. PSG, fielding a young squad under new manager Luis Enrique, saw their chances with Nuno Mendes hitting the post and Joao Neves striking the bar, but they couldn’t break through Arsenal’s defense.
The game also saw the debut of summer signing Mikel Merino, while defender Jurrien Timber was withdrawn at half-time due to a minor muscular issue. Mikel Arteta praised his team’s resilience, as they weathered PSG’s pressure in the second half to claim the much-needed victory.
