France and Canada played to a 0-0 draw in their final warm-up match before Euro 2024 and the Copa America, respectively. The friendly, held at the Nouveau Stade de Bordeaux, saw both teams creating opportunities but failing to score.
In the first half, France came close to breaking the deadlock with efforts from N’Golo Kante and Marcus Thuram, but Canadian goalkeeper Maxime Crepeau made several impressive saves. Canada also had their moments, showing confidence and attacking intent.
The second half continued to be an entertaining contest. Liam Millar of Canada hit the bar with a powerful shot, while France’s Olivier Giroud, in his last home appearance for the national team, narrowly missed scoring on multiple occasions.
Despite the goalless draw, both teams displayed positive aspects. Canada looked disciplined and improving under new coach Jesse Marsch. For France, there is still work to be done by Didier Deschamps to enhance their fluency and dynamism, especially with key players like Kylian Mbappe and Aurelien Tchouameni not starting the match.
Maxime Crepeau was named the player of the match for his crucial saves, which kept Canada in the game.
