Manchester City stormed to a 4-1 victory over newly-promoted Ipswich Town at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, thanks to a hat-trick from Erling Haaland and a goal from Kevin De Bruyne. The win keeps City perfect in their Premier League campaign.
Ipswich stunned City early on when Sammie Szmodics found the net in the seventh minute, slipping the ball through goalkeeper Ederson’s legs. However, the lead was short-lived. A VAR review awarded City a penalty after Leif Davis fouled Savinho in the box, and Haaland coolly converted to equalize just five minutes later.
City quickly turned the game around with De Bruyne capitalizing on a mistake by Ipswich keeper Arijanet Muric to give them the lead. Moments later, Haaland latched onto De Bruyne’s lofted pass to score his second of the match. Haaland completed his hat-trick with a powerful strike in the 88th minute, sealing a dominant win for the reigning champions.
The victory leaves Manchester City with maximum points from their opening two games, while Ipswich are still searching for their first point of the season.
