In a significant setback for the Miami Dolphins, star wide receiver Tyreek Hill will be inactive for the AFC East clash against the New York Jets. Hill, who sustained an ankle injury in Week 14, did not participate in practice all week and will miss a game for the first time since joining the Dolphins from the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2022 offseason.
This absence comes at a crucial juncture for Miami, as they aim for their first AFC East title since 2008 and the top seed in the AFC. Hill, who leads the team with 132 targets, 97 receptions, 1,542 receiving yards, and 12 touchdowns, has been quarterback Tua Tagovailoa’s primary target this season.
The Dolphins will have to rely on other offensive weapons, including running back De’Von Achane, who is active despite a toe injury. The depth of Miami’s roster will be tested with several other starters also on the inactive list, including safeties Jevon Holland and DeShon Elliott, right guard Robert Hunt, and cornerback Xavien Howard.
Miami’s quest for victory against the Jets and the pursuit of an AFC East title face challenges, especially with Hill’s absence against the Jets’ formidable passing defense. The game is set to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday, and the Dolphins will need other playmakers like Jaylen Waddle to step up in Hill’s absence.
