Cristiano Ronaldo has lauded Manchester City’s Champions League victory last season, expressing the belief that they deserved the title even earlier. Ronaldo, who won the European Cup with Manchester United and Real Madrid, thinks Pep Guardiola’s squad has the potential to secure back-to-back titles.
Ronaldo’s Remarks:
“Manchester City did amazing. Congratulations on their season. Players, coach. Superb. Finally, they win the Champions League, they probably deserved it two years ago. I enjoy seeing them playing. Manchester City has a good chance to win the Champions League again. Favourites? Man City, Real Madrid, Bayern.”
The Portuguese star, not surprisingly, tips Guardiola’s team for another successful campaign. City reinforced their treble-winning squad in the summer with notable signings like Jeremy Doku, Josko Gvardiol, and Matheus Nunes. After cruising through the Champions League group stage with a perfect record, they are set to face FC Copenhagen in the last 16.
City, already crowned Club World Cup champions this season, eyes further success, with Guardiola confidently predicting a fourth consecutive Premier League title. They return to action on January 26 in an FA Cup fourth-round clash with Tottenham, followed by a Premier League match against Burnley five days later.
In another statement, Ronaldo acknowledges City’s potential but expresses hope that they don’t win the Champions League again. He recognizes the team’s strength and quality players but remains cautious about predicting the outcome, knowing various factors can influence the tournament.
