Cristiano Ronaldo has set a new record for the most goals in a single Saudi Pro League season, scoring 35 goals in his first full season with Al Nassr. The 39-year-old Portuguese striker scored twice in Al Nassr’s 4-2 victory over Al Ittihad on the final matchday, surpassing the previous record of 34 goals set by former Al Nassr forward Abderrazak Hamdallah in the 2018-19 season.
Ronaldo, who joined Al Nassr in January 2023, has now become the first player to be the top scorer in four different top leagues: the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, and the Saudi Pro League. Despite his record-breaking performance, Al Nassr finished the season in second place, 14 points behind champions Al Hilal.
After the match, Ronaldo tweeted, “I don’t follow the records, the records follow me.” Ronaldo, a former Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus star, continues to make history both at the club and international levels. He is the most capped player in men’s international football with 206 appearances and has scored a record 128 goals. He will also be participating in the 2024 Euros in Germany, marking his 11th international tournament.
