Cole Palmer delivered an extraordinary performance, scoring four goals in Chelsea’s 4-2 win against Brighton, ending the Seagulls’ unbeaten start to the season. Palmer’s record-breaking first-half display, including a hat-trick within 11 minutes, guided Chelsea to their fourth consecutive victory.
Brighton opened the scoring early after former Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez fumbled an aerial challenge, allowing Georginio Rutter to find the net. However, Palmer quickly turned the tide, scoring his first goal from a Nicolas Jackson assist. He doubled Chelsea’s lead with a penalty, before completing his hat-trick with a stunning free-kick from 25 yards.
Although Brighton attempted to mount a comeback, capitalizing on a second error by Sanchez that led to Carlos Baleba’s goal, Palmer added a fourth just before half-time. Chelsea’s dominance continued into the second half, and while Palmer narrowly missed adding more to his tally, his performance secured a comfortable win for the Blues.
The victory leaves Chelsea just two points behind league leaders Liverpool, while Brighton suffered their first defeat, dropping to eighth in the Premier League table. Palmer’s historic performance has firmly established him as a key player in Chelsea’s title challenge under manager Enzo Maresca.
Chelsea will next face Nottingham Forest, while Brighton will aim to bounce back when they host Tottenham Hotspur.
