Chelsea Secures £54m Signing of Wolves Star Pedro Neto Amid Summer Spending Spree

Chelsea has successfully reached a £54 million agreement to sign Portuguese winger Pedro Neto from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The deal, comprising an initial payment of £51.4 million and £2.6 million in potential add-ons, represents a significant acquisition for the Blues as they continue their summer recruitment drive.

Neto, 24, has been a standout performer for Wolves since joining from Lazio in 2019, making 135 appearances and scoring 14 goals. Despite enduring an injury-hit season, Neto contributed three goals and 11 assists, cementing his reputation as one of the Premier League’s most dynamic wingers. His performances have also earned him 10 caps for Portugal, and he is included in their Euro 2024 squad.

This transfer adds Neto to Chelsea’s impressive roster of wide players, including Cole Palmer, Noni Madueke, Mykhailo Mudryk, and Raheem Sterling. Neto’s arrival bolsters Chelsea’s attacking options as they prepare for the upcoming season under the guidance of manager Enzo Maresca, who is aiming to build a team with the same attacking flair seen at Manchester City and Arsenal.

With this signing, Chelsea’s summer spending surpasses £200 million, underscoring their ambition to compete at the highest levels. Neto will also set a new record as Wolves’ most expensive sale, surpassing the £47 million transfer of Ruben Neves to Al-Hilal last summer.
