Chelsea are close to finalizing a £19 million deal to sign 18-year-old forward Omari Kellyman from Aston Villa. The agreement, which is nearly complete, requires Kellyman to undergo a medical and agree to personal terms.
Kellyman joined Aston Villa’s academy from Derby County in 2022 and made his first-team debut in 2023. Last season, he made two Premier League appearances and featured twice in the Europa Conference League. Kellyman, who recently switched his international allegiance from Northern Ireland to England, made his England Under-20 debut this month. He signed a long-term contract with Villa in October.
This transfer comes as Villa and Chelsea also agreed on a deal for left-back Ian Maatsen, with Villa paying just over his £35 million release clause. Maatsen has agreed to personal terms on a six-year contract. Additionally, Chelsea recently signed Tosin Adarabioyo on a free transfer from Fulham and have an agreement for Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao Willian, who will join next summer.
This move signals Chelsea’s continued investment in young talent as they look to build a strong squad for the future.
