Chelsea is reportedly interested in signing Leicester City star Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall but faces competition from Premier League rivals Brighton. Dewsbury-Hall played a crucial role in Leicester’s promotion to the Premier League under Enzo Maresca, who is now Chelsea’s head coach.
Chelsea has contacted Leicester City to express their interest in the 25-year-old midfielder. Although no formal offer has been made, Dewsbury-Hall is believed to prefer a move to Stamford Bridge if he leaves his boyhood club. His contract at Leicester runs until 2027.
Dewsbury-Hall is seen as a perfect fit for Chelsea’s style of play under Maresca. The pair worked together at Leicester last season, where Dewsbury-Hall made 49 appearances, scored 12 goals, and helped secure promotion to the Premier League.
Brighton previously tried to sign Dewsbury-Hall in January but could not finalize the deal. They remain interested and could challenge Chelsea for his signature this summer.
Chelsea’s interest in Dewsbury-Hall is part of their broader transfer strategy, which includes an agreement in principle to sign young forward Marc Guiu from Barcelona and being close to completing the signing of defender Aaron Anselmino from Boca Juniors.
Dewsbury-Hall’s potential move to Chelsea is also influenced by Leicester’s financial concerns, with the club needing to balance their books by the end of their accounting year on June 30. Chelsea might push for a quick deal to secure a better price.
Rob Tanner, Leicester City’s correspondent for The Athletic, notes that Maresca’s interest in Dewsbury-Hall is understandable, given the midfielder’s reliability, quality, and familiarity with Maresca’s system. Despite Leicester rejecting a £30 million bid from Brighton in January, a move to a top-six club like Chelsea could appeal to Dewsbury-Hall.
