Chelsea has re-entered negotiations with Atletico Madrid to bring Joao Felix back to Stamford Bridge after a last-minute collapse of Samu Omorodion’s £34.5 million transfer. Omorodion was set to sign a seven-year contract with Chelsea, but unforeseen complications during final contract discussions led to the deal’s sudden breakdown.
Atletico Madrid, aiming to balance their finances, had hoped to sell Omorodion to facilitate their ongoing deals for Chelsea’s Conor Gallagher and Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez. With the Omorodion transfer now off the table, Atletico has revived talks about offloading Felix, who previously spent a loan spell at Chelsea.
Felix, who scored four goals in 20 appearances for Chelsea, spent last season on loan at Barcelona, where he netted 10 times in 44 games. Although Atletico initially explored a deal involving Felix and Manchester City’s Alvarez, those discussions stalled, leading to renewed interest from Chelsea.
Having joined Atletico from Benfica in 2019 for £114 million, Felix’s future at the Spanish club remains uncertain. With Chelsea seeking to strengthen their squad, a potential return for the Portuguese forward is now back on the cards.
