Carlos Alcaraz won his second consecutive Wimbledon title by defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets: 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 (4). The victory marks Alcaraz’s fourth Grand Slam title at just 21 years old.
Alcaraz, who also won the French Open earlier this year, demonstrated exceptional skill and composure throughout the match. Despite a challenging start and Djokovic’s effort to mount a comeback, Alcaraz remained dominant and closed out the match with a strong performance in the tiebreaker.
Djokovic, who was recovering from recent knee surgery, struggled with his form and movement, ultimately falling short of his goal to tie Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles and extend his own Grand Slam record to 25.
In addition to his Wimbledon win, Alcaraz earned $3.5 million in prize money, bringing his career earnings to $35.1 million. Djokovic received $2.2 million for his runner-up finish.
Alcaraz’s win signifies the continuing shift from tennis’s established stars to the new generation, with the 21-year-old Spaniard already securing lucrative endorsements and establishing himself as the sport’s future star.
